Clubs Mode was absolutely brilliant back then on FIFA 09. It is an absolute shambles of a mode now though and it saddens me. They have totally ruined it.

Whilst I'm posting...

Anyone who wants to join, please post their PSN id on this thread, so we know your part of the forums. I don't know everyone, so I'm wary of accepting anyone who happens to make a request to the club. (Unless, of course, other managers know you & can accept your request.) We had some sign-up a few weeks ago who were 'friends', but they laughed at us for not winning enough. :roll: Which shows they missed the point, so they weren't missed when they left fairly quickly. :D

I'd also like to remind people that this club is for FGN users to enjoy & have fun with like minded players. Of course,we all want to score (& win), but we have all levels of players here. Some are very good & other, like me, are just average. So it's spoils the game when people won't pass & hog the ball. We've played some outstanding football when we've moved the ball around. Let's be seen as a team that plays football & win or lose we will keep trying to play that way!

It's a shame EA don't show unbeaten runs rather than just wins. ;) I think 16 is our best so far. Cue, someone to put me right on that!

Definitely is easier for the ANY if he is captain so can change formation and do the ultra defensive/attacking stuff.

LOL I've played most of my games for the club at CDM. Brummy said he didn't enjoy playing ANY because he panicked in defence. I'm the opposite, I panic in attack! I don't trust the game enough to play about with the ball & my dribbling skills as about as useful as a beach ball on a windy day. So I try to find space & pass it, but I get frustrated when I (attempt to) play a good pass, but the game overrides it & plays a crap one nowhere near where my analog is pointing!

For a long time I played all manual which was great for getting those 'special' balls through & very satisfying. But when I started playing clubs, it was just too tough to play manual, so had to change back to semi. Maybe EA should think about introducing a 'manual' clubs option. ;)

I was annoyed because my player didn't play the rebound - the response was terrible today. I'd stop running, but my VP would take another stride before stopping. I felt like an Italian cruise captain! Takes the fun out of playing when the game doesn't respond properly. :(

BTW what happened to the other vid you were making with my great volley in? :D

Are you on later? I'm trying to get Molde into Champions League, so I'll prob' be playing tonight. I play as LF for them (on Legendary) & my shooting is pretty good. Makes me realise that, perhaps, I shouldn't try shooting when my VP is set up as CDM. :$

Norway. - Tippeligaen. Won league & cup double, unbeaten in first season. 36 goals in 38 games. Started new season & been really rubbish! :( Drew & lost 2 friendlies, one to go, then CL qualifier against Rubin Kazan; not confident.

It doesn't get any better! :D It's really annoying when you see your player axed down clear through on goal & the ref wags a finger at the defender. Human refs are inconsistent, but EA are adamant that they haven't programmed ref error into the game. Apparently, FIFA won't allow them to.

EA Servers went down right when Xemik failed the goal and it was pretty funny :D..and yes today we played beast!!! and that voley shot was wow, i'm awesome :P

I failed cos the server crashed; I'd have scored otherwise - honest. :$ I did hit the bar AND was under pressure from a charging GK. I better not mention the open goal where you hit the post... :D I was very pleased with the goal I took around the keeper, though.

But what really annoys me is how the refs are so inconsistent. I got hacked down 4 times during a game, no cards, yet I use R2 to shoulder a player off the ball (no slide) & I get booked. How can that be right? I'm sick of conceding cheap fouls & not get them in return. The amount of times opponent barge us off the ball & get away with it is disgraceful.

Sure, we've had a few decisions go our way, but that's a rarity, don't you think? Or maybe it's just me... :-/

But it seems to go against us more often than not. I got booked in a game yesterday, but I've no idea why.

We had another good session yesterday, but one game is worthy of mention - against Art of Pwning. When we got to the player screen one of them mentioned that we weren't very good (although he was somewhat cruder). There's no need for that - I mean, we may not win all the time, but the club is about playing together & having fun. Winning is a bonus. Anyway, they scored early & I feared the worst.

But we stuck together & all of us grazed the post at some point. I think they had a VP GK which made it tough. However, late on in the second half I drove a shot low into the bottom far corner. I think they were a bit miffed at my exuberant 'Yes!' & complained 'It's only a goal'. Perhaps I was taking it all too seriously, but it was more than just a goal to me. I don't score very often &, though I say so myself, it was a fine shot, but it got us back on terms with a team that clearly thought they were better than us & expected an easy win.

Shame we didn't win, but for a brief moment perhaps we knew what it felt like for a League 2 team to draw at Old Trafford. ;)

I commented before, but I think it bears repeating. This club is about FGN members playing and enjoying club football together. If you want to play for a club that has win after win, then this club isn't for you.

Why have I brought this up? Well, there has been some unrest recently (no names or finger pointing on here please). We don't need the bickering. If you have a problem with another player, than by all means raise a polite concern, but there's no need for name calling or abuse. Players who persist in such behaviour will be removed from the club. Of course, I'm not referring to the light hearted banter, which we enjoy joining our session. However, I do consider constantly using a nickname which another player doesn't like is abuse.

The main reason, it seems, for discontent is other players hogging the ball. Personally, I think it's unfair to criticise someone playing as ANY for passing the ball to themselves. Surely this is inevitable (& necessary) especially when there are only 3 players in the team. It's particularly surprising that the players making this complaint have all played ANY for the club. They should know better.

To be honest, the one thing that does annoy me is players who dribble at EVERY opportunity. Football doesn't work like that. How often to you see great players like Messi dribble every time he gets the ball? We have played our best football when we've moved the ball around. Dribbling in front of goal to get an opening is one thing, but to dribble on the edge of your own box is suicidal. ;)

We have some good players at the club & even average players like me get a lot of enjoyment out of our sessions. So please let's keep the fun in our club.

^Couldn't say better...every day i'm excited to play because we got so much fun (before ea decided to troll,obviously :P) we make jokes,score some beautiful goals, better, team goals, everyday we get better, play beter football, know each others and what they are thinking, of course we don't win always, but maybe is beter this way because when we lose, we see what we did wrong and do better next time.Even Xemik is scoring lately :O.. :P, so have fun and if we win, it's a bonus, that we are getting a lot lately hihihi, well nothing to say more..props to Xemik for the post..*me claping*

Very few of the teams we played had a human ANY, they were all using the CPU ANY which played like it was back at World Class. Before clubs broke, almost nobody used the CPU ANY after EA fixed it to Pro level last year. Shooting seems to be erratic & the camera will no longer set to my preferences.

Clubs has suddenly become a big mess! :mad:

True, but before it was very rare to face a team with a CPU ANY, but the last few nights it's been around 75% of games. To go from almost zero to 75% in 2 days suggest something has changed.

Another thing that's frustrating is playing against a VP GK when we have a CPU GK. EA should match VP GK and CPU ANY with similar teams.

The camera issue, does this only happen to you when playing away? My custom settings are always a mess when we play the as the away team, I then have to wait till half time to change it back to normal.

So many things wrong with clubs now. It's not a fair balanced playing field like FIFA 09 gave us. VP GK being the biggest overpowered pile of ****e.

Yep, it needs to have a major overhaul in the way it's setup because there are so many teams with different variations on CPU or Human ANY, VP GK or CPU GK...

It's because these different setups have such an overbearing effect on the gameplay and end result that there needs to be a split. To lump everyone into the same pot and the same rankings with such contrasting setups is ludicrous.

Sad thing is it's all their own doing.

I agree with the need for precise passing, but how is it possible when the game overrides you? I've had passes go as much as 120deg out from where I passed it. Remember the other night I passed it forward & the game kicked it BACK!/

IIRC it doesn't matter, home or away. I use Tele Broadcast, 0 for height & 8 for zoom. I can't even fix it, because I the height stops adjusting when it reaches 12, so it's always too high AND it seems to be stuck in Tele mode.

When I played my PM game, the camera was messed up, too. Reset it & it was ok, but as soon as I played Clubs it's screwed again. :roll:

I agree with Sam since we debated it at length while we played (& it's pronouced zem-mik, BTW Sam :D), but I think he should have tamed the language a little. ;)

My eyes are watering, I tried to find something on the EA forums about this 'change' & boy did I wish I hadn't. The vitriol on there is astonishing. It seems that the only opinion that matters in there is the opinion of the poster! Anyway, apparently, FIFA is the only game that allows a human to control ANY & the opinion appears to be that "the ANY s/be WC & NOT controlled by a human. So stop complaining & learn to play the game you whining noobs." I'm paraphrasing of course, but that's the gist.

Some even suggest that you aren't allowed to play a club game unless you have at least 5 players playing. And, my favourite, clubs games should all be 11v11 only. :D

<sigh> I only want too play with my FGN friends & enjoy the game without meeting online cheats & abusers. Is that too much to ask?

TBH what most really mean is "learn how to exploit the game". I have always played a close passing game since the very early ISS/PES days. IMO PES4 was the best for that, but it got harder & harder to do as PES & FIFA 'improved'. It's the main reason i don't play H2H online, because I can't play my usual game because of the lag. Many (most?) players just want to get the ball up field ASAP. Our ANY's are often guilty of that & forget they can pass backwards to keep the ball. :D It's also very hard to play a passing game online because of the pressure whores.

Tactical defending is supposed to stop this, but in online games you don't really need to worry about stamina so people still play the pressure game. And that's why is so darn annoying playing a WC ANY in clubs, because they invariably play a prefect defensive game & don't get tricked like a human would. Some people on EA Forums don't seem to get that when they say that there's little difference between having a human ANY & a CPU ANY.

If it wasn't for Clubs I'd hardly play F12 at all. Although I am currently enjoying my Legendary PM game as LF for Molde. :D Just knocked Chelsea out of the Champions League with a 2-1 at the Bridge & a 1-0 defeat at home.

I totally agree with you. Myself, Jas, Davo and Nor have this discussion all the time and it drives us mad how much the CPU involvement is ruining clubs now.

It doesn't get fooled or tricked whatsoever like a human would. If you fake to turn one way and go the other, a human ANY would naturally buy it and be fooled, which is fantastic because that's what online multiplayer gaming is all about.

The CPU on the other hand just sticks to you like glue, in your face, on your ass, not giving you an inch to breathe. It's infuriating, because you know you'd likely be winning the game otherwise, and rather comfortably at that.

Well I cant say Im surprised that people on the repulsive EA Forums are saying such nonsense.

The ANY should always be controlled by a human, purely because its an ONLINE game mode. If we wanted to play against the CPU, then we'll play offline. Could you imagine the uproar if on COD, you could play a Team Deathmatch and have Veteran bots on your side? It doesnt bear thinking about.

Another thing I always think of, is that for a community that is absolutely obsessed with doing skills at every opportunity, why on earth would people want to play against the robotic, mind-reading CPU who 90% of the time you cannot fool with tricks of any kind? Just madness.




I totally agree with you. Myself, Jas, Davo and Nor have this discussion all the time and it drives us mad how much the CPU involvement is ruining clubs now.

It doesn't get fooled or tricked whatsoever like a human would. If you fake to turn one way and go the other, a human ANY would naturally buy it and be fooled, which is fantastic because that's what online multiplayer gaming is all about.

The CPU on the other hand just sticks to you like glue, in your face, on your ass, not giving you an inch to breathe. It's infuriating, because you know you'd likely be winning the game otherwise, and rather comfortably at that.

The amount of games we should have won so comfortably, but have been taken all the way to a Penalty Shootout because we cant get past the CPU and a VP GK is beyond belief. It is just the biggest load of nonsense ever, and it makes me sick how you can also be up against two useless idiots running around up front like headless chickens and still struggle to win because they're hiding behind a brick wall of CPU defenders, and receving perfect passes from them as well.

Its a disgrace, and I really hope the system on FIFA 13 works well as we'll never have to see the CPU or another VP GK ever again. /whateva

But the other thing is the CPU doesn't get pulled up for the same fouls we do. Brummy's EA Mess Up thread would be thousands of posts long if we saved every video of when the game turned us over.

Surely, it's time EA added obstruction to the game. So many times we've been through & got tripped or blocked by a defender so we can't get to the ball, but no foul is ever given. The Impact Engine does, on balance, make for a better game, but it certainly needs a good polish for the next outing.

And, Sam, I can't believe you actually said there s/be handball in Clubs. The game cheats enough already without giving us another reason to rage at it! ;)

Creating Club:
Your manager will create your club in rivals. If you are the manager, Select Club registration from the Club menu. Your club must be on created in FIFA itself before you can register it on Rivals. Your club can only be created once. Manager of the club is able to edit the profile options of the club and accept and remove players from the team. Each club has a virtual club budget and other stats like a fan base and stadium capacity. More on this is explained later on.

Wages / transfer value

Each player is worth something in rivals. The more stats to accumulate and the more games you take part in will affect your worth. Defenders and goalkeepers will receive increases based on cleansheets. Although a team game to balance values out. Only gk's and defenders will gain on this stat. CDM's count also. Scoring goals, making assists and also being selected as the motm by the manager will all increase your values and wages by different amounts. The increase amounts are randommly generated between a range for each stat. This gives the values area a bit of flexibility and variety between players. Its not going to just increase by 100 for every goal. As that is a bit too static. The ranges for each stat are not miles apart so if you score two goals and your mate scores two goals. You will have different but similar increases. The motm is chosen by the manager. He can choose one player from his team for that match that he thought was the best player. He can use the EA motm suggestions based on the rating system they use in game, or they can use their own judgements. This is a way of a manager giving praise to his players. Being selected as motm will give you a nice bonus to your values. And may also give you a cheeky lump sum of virtual cash . There is no limit or rules to how managers award their motm and the home team and away team can have a motm each per game. Anyone found abusing the motm option by awarding the same player each time motm may then see us create a limit on the motm. Managers can award themselves motm if they do so wish.

In the coming weeks, we'll be adding various things you can spend your earned cash on. Every 7 days you will be paid your wages from your club. So save up them pennys til you can spend them

Transfer prices are paid when you sign for a club. If your value increases after you sign for a club. Your club will make a small profit on you if you move on. Clubs pay what you are worth. You cannot be transferred for a negotiable value. Although this maybe something I will look at in the near future. I don't want rivals to be opinion based. The stats will do the talking. Reason being, actual stats cannot change. Opions are always different. So having values based on stats is a better way to do things. So for now, club will pay the exact amount of your transfer value.

I suspect that's because no one knew if you were on FGN. This team is for FGN members only, but is shown as Public to make it easier for members to send a transfer request.

The best way to sign up is post in this thread that you want to join the team (include your PSN id), then send a transfer request on Fifa. I saw your request but didn't know if you were on FGN. I asked other team members but they didn't seem to know either.

We've allowed 'outsiders' in to the team before & it's only caused annoyance when they moan about the team. Quite often they want to play it their way. Sure we would like to win more, but the sole purpose of this team is for FGN members to play together & have a good time. If that appeals to you, send a another request & I'll accept it now I know you're on the forum.

FIFA clearly keeps a running total of all Clubs game an ID has played, so it shouldn't be that difficult to keep a tally by club.

What are the problem exactly? Being new to the mode, I don't notice many differences.
In not so much differences as dubious decisions & strange incidents occurring far too often. For example, we conceded a penalty recently when the player with the ball was at least 3 yds outside the box. I was shadowing the only opponent in the box, but never made any challenge. When the pen was awarded it didn't show me AND there were no fouls recorded against me in my end of game stats.

Yesterday, I was trying to bring down a clearance maybe 10+ yds into the oppos half. The only button I was pressing was :r2: & movement, I know for certain I never press :cross:, etc. My player suddenly flew 6 yds towards their goal & a foul was given. I was amazed that it was against me! How?

It's not like this is a rare event. In fact, it's a rare event when something like this DOESN'T happen in a game.

Yeah, we had 3 or 4 games after you left before my connection died. Not a happy bunny seeing the RED light on my router. The BB connection was up, but it wouldn't connect to my ISP.

I am the manager of FGN FC & today I appear not to be associated with a club. I find that I have been released by FGN FC, but since I am (was!) the manager, how is this possible?

This has also happened with SamatelloHD, who we've had to resign TWICE costing us 20,000, which we should not have had to pay.

Clearly, Rivals has some issues, please advise.

This Rivals thing is seriously broken. Maybe one of you can ask FVPA how you can take over as Manager on there for FGN FC.

Indeed. I just can't understand why anyone would complain against a team using an ANY. Playing against a CPU controlled team has to be one of the most boring, most hair-pulling, rage inducing setups ever known on a game. Then if there's a downloaded Virtual Pro GK sitting behind the CPU it just tops it all off. :D

I'd much rather a team of 100% human controlled players beat me deservedly, than a team of 2-3 virtual pros all hanging about upfront calling for the ball all the time from the CPU which is doing all the hard work for them in defence...

If people don't want to be ANY and want to use the CPU then that's fine, but it shouldn't effect the outcome of a match as much as it presently does. On FIFA 09 and 10 the CPU was pretty bad and ineffective which is exactly how an online game mode should be.

It's time EA added filters for CPU ANY & VP GK. I'm sick of losing (or even drawing!) against teams who play CPU ANY & VP GK & the VP GK usually gets motm, too.

Ah, maybe it's an average of all the players you had control of. So make sure you only control the GK & back 4 & you'll get 9 for sure. :cow:

Men as i said i was kinda sick and tyred so wasn't playing very well, ask SamatelloHD after you went when i went and tryed to be any i played really good, alot of passes i did in defence and then i just pass it through to Sam and he would score, that day was just terrible, i can tell you it was the worst day i had on FIFA12, as i said i shouldn't have played that day...

The thing is i asked people who complain about teams playing with any's and i asked them have they played clubs on 09 or 10 and i say most of them have said no can see why since they need a cpu any to win them there matches

I'm having real trouble not being able to get shots away recently, let alone score them, I can't remember scoring since Friday which was a penalty. I've tried getting on the last man, I've tried coming deep for the ball but still no luck. I'm probably going to keep playing CDM unless somebody wants CDM/CAM. iBrummy today was the DAY, he played like barcelona, passes on the back and then attack really fast and goal, if i'm correct he never lost and we did more than 15 games, and we won the most, they actuallu rage quited alot :), really enjoyed played with you, just us, beating every oponent, long time i got so much fun playing clubs...btw i forgot, did you record?

We only lost one when just me and you were playing, and only lost 2 in total out of 19 games, drawn 5 and won 12. We were such a great team tonight, I think I will make CAM/CDM my main position now unless somebody else wants that position. I think what more people need to do, is go and get themselves in space and look for the ball. We played some great football tonight and long may it continue. :)

I think you do well as cam or cdm since you helped me a lot when atacking but when it was to defend you were there too, the only problem is,as i was saying during the games, the energy...and that time waste was superb :P

Yeah, the only problem I'm having with my energy is that I can't race past defenders like I could usually but we create so much anyway, I don't need to race forward, I'll just try and stick to picking the ball up and laying it off again. The simple play was excellent.
