View Full Version : A.S Roma Highlights FT. Carlo Zampa

Hey guys, I thought I'd start a thread where I post the highlights of the Roma games along with the LEGEND which is Carlo Zampa. For those of you who don't know, in Italy most teams have their own personal commentator who supports their team. In Roma's case, it's Carlo who makes you live every single moment as if you were there! So every week, I will post highlights of Coppa Italia and League fixtures of the Roma games and post them in here :) I know not everyone will be interested in this thread, but I'm sure there will be a few people who will enjoy watching the progress of this ambitious, project which Luis Enrique is looking to pursue and hopefully enjoy some good goals along the way :D
Roma 5 - 1 Cesena.
First game against Cesena, 3rd from bottom when playing Roma. Possibly the quickest goal I have witnessed my team score. Enjoy :D

Totti has now broken the record for scoring over 210 goals with the same shirt in Italy. Capitano ti Amo!

Read about Roma's massive win and Totti breaking the record. Good to see Roma playing well at the moment and Luis Enrique doing a good job as the media were on his back earlier on in the season.
Great commentating lol!
Also forgot that Roma signed Borini this season as they signed many players. How is Jose Angel and Bojan doing Defazzini VR ?

Thanks :)
Yeah unfortunately at the start of the season Roma just wern't clicking. They only won 1 game in 3 and then followed by a 3-0 defeat against Fiorentina. But the fans were patient and it looks now we are getting the reward. After the 3-1 win at Napoli, we look really good and work well as a team. A mixture of experience and youth is working extremely well for us at the moment. Let's hope we can give Juve a good game in Coppa Italia who are an absolutely outstanding team at the moment.

ahmed_1 Jose Angel - He started off the season on quite an average level if I'm honest. He does look a threat when he attacks from that left wing back position, but with no real desire. He has looked quite weak defensively speaking but I'm sure that is something which he will improve as he develops as a player. At the moment, Rodrigo Taddei is playing in his position as he is playing the role in a more efficient and effective way than Jose. His experience allowed him to defend well and attack with a purpose. However, there is no doubt in my mind that Jose will turn out to be a great player for us :)
Bojan - Unfortunately Bojan just hasn't made the impact he and most of the fans were expecting him to make. He has scored only 2 goals since the start of the season and he just hasn't impressed much. I think the Seria A in comparison to Liga BBVA is more physical and sometimes you do wonder whether he's finding that part of the game difficult to handle. He has been pushed off the ball very easily on a number of occasions and therefore has fallen to be a substitute for most games. However, Luis Enrique has lots of confidence in Krkic and everytime he does bring him on, he gives 100% and he has been very unlucky not to score more, as you might have seen in the video above. I'm sure his time will come, he just needs time to adapt and get used to the new league. Fabio Borini is now set to be ahead of Bojan in terms of First Team Line up. There is a lot of competition in the attacking side of Roma which I believe is a good, positive factor and makes every attacker work even harder to impress :)

Yes that Napoli win was a big win for Roma. At the moment they seem to be on great run. You're correct Juve are playing great at the moment. A big revival for them after struggling in the pas seasons since their promotion.
Thanks for the update Defazzini VR on the Spanish players. They are still young so I am sure they will get suited to the Serie A football soon. I know Rivaldo and Mendieta who came from La Liga didn't settle well in Serie A many seasons ago.
Do you think Roma can get 3rd spot for Champions League this year? I'm sure 3 teams from Italy on qualify for Champions League.

ahmed_1 If you were to ask me this at the start of the season, I would have replied with the straight answer of no. However, I would now say that I genuinely think we can. We look defensively solid, and attacking wise we look a threat and we have proven to be clinical in previous games. Inter are looking extremely strong now and are also on a very good run having beat AC Milan 1- 0 earlier on.
All in all, I would really like to think we can reach 3rd place if we carry on the way we have been recently. It will be tough as Udinese and Lazio are all very competitive this season, not to mention Napoli. However, Napoli are looking fairly weak in terms of getting results. They dreww 1-1- with Siena earlier on today :-/
So yeah, I think it will be a very hard struggle but I think we may be just be in with a chance of clinching 3rd place :D

Defazzini VR thanks for your opinion. Yeah the start for Roma wasn't the best plus getting knocked out of the Europa League early on put immense pressure on Enrique.
Yes now that 3rd spot is the final place for Champions League the competition will be interesting (given that Juve and Milan finish 1st or 2nd with their current performance...but never say never, as football has interesting outcomes at times lol). I agree with you that Napoli have had a few mixed results recently. I remember hearing the panel on The Guardian Football Weekly podcast mentioning about this about Napoli.

I think Serie A this season seems very competitive and interesting given that many teams are starting to catch up with Milan teams (after previous seasons were mainly Milan dominated).
Palermo seem a very interesting team, I don't know what goes on with their chairman lol

The following game was between Roma and Internazionale. Whenever these two teams have faced it has always been a great spectacle and it has become a classic in the Serie A.
Roma won 4 - 0. Absolutely fantastic performance by Roma and the day was topped off by the confermation of Daniele De Rossi signing a new 5 year contract :D
Here are the goals commented by Carlo Zampa! Enjoy :D

Great win for Roma today. Good to see Bojan on the scoresheet. Barca have a buy back clause after 2 yrs right?
Also nice to see De Rossi stay and resist the mega offer by Man City. You must be happy that the rivals above dropped points in the chase for the Champions League spot Defazzini VR

ahmed_1 Yeah that's right. It was great to see Bojan score especially as he hasn't really been able to show what he's worth since joining Roma. He now comes on at the 75th min or so as Fabio Borini is performing that striker role exceptionally well as you can see :)
Hopefully Bojan is 'Sbloccato' which means 'Unblocked' in terms of goals. We all know what he can do and he has an amazing talent and hopefully this is the start of many goals to come.
Yeah it was a great day for Roma in terms of other teams results. Udinese lost and they remain at 39 points. Our great rivals Lazio lost 3-2 which is always a great feeling. Milan and Napoli drew 0-0 with Ibrahimovic getting sent off.
Overall it was a great day and Roma just need to carry this attitude along with them to every single game and they will go far! :D

Yeah Borini is playing well for you at the moment. I just found out now that he is on a co-ownership deal. Do you think he will stay at Roma?
Also it will be interesting to see how Roma do this year in the league. Its like a new era for the team given the takeover and the Spanish influence in the team (with Enrique and some Spanish players joining the team)

ahmed_1 Borini is very attached to the shirt even though he hasn't actually played at Roma for very long. He has kept on saying how he has loved to play for Roma and that he has fallen in love with the city and the fans. He is very confident in this new project and I am 99% confident he will stay at Roma.
As you may know De Rossi has also signed a 5 year contract to Roma yesterday which I'm still absolutely extatic about! Totti and De Rossi will be some of the only players to have stayed at their own club all their lifes. De Rossi had the opportunity to play for Manchester City and earn triple what he earns at Roma but in the end he knew where his loyalty rested. He seems extremely happy now and he has also said he is very confident and optimistic about this new project. It's all looking good!
Let's hope we can reach the 3rd spot this season for the Champions League spot! Would be a great achievement :D
ahmed_1
06 February 2012, 09:16 PM
If Borini keeps playing like this at Roma why leave? Plus he is at a big club now and has a very big opportunity to shine. Whilst at Chelsea he didn't really get a chance and its shame to see some of these young players unable to get a chance to play games.
Hard to see players being a "one club man" nowadays in football, there are some but a minority I suppose. For instance if someone like Manchester City comes along showing mega wage offer most players go.
True say if you get Champions League will be a major achievement given that Serie A competition is now looking very tough.

Talking off topic but still on the Serie A subject, I remember in my young days I use to watch Serie A morning show on Channel 4 with James Richardson. My mum said to me is he going to eat his dessert because he always use to talk about the football and had a nice dessert on his table lol. I really liked Sheva back in the days at Milan when he was awesome. Also I remember Peter Brackley commentating in some games and seeing an amazing talented player called Cassano at Bari. And the intro to the show Goalazo lol ...that was class! Those were the days lol
I have PS3, would have been good to get a few games on Fifa though.

Yeah, Cassano, what an absolute animal he is. It was such a shame seeing him leave Roma. He was definitely one of the best players in the world at one point. His technical ability was second to none and some of the things he did at Roma were just amazing.
Do you remember Marco Delvecchio? Vincent Candela'? Gabriel Battistuta? Now those are the days I'm talking about! 2001 when Roma won the Scudetto. I hope that day will arrive soon again :ha::D

He was a great player Cassano at Bari and Roma. Once he left to join Madrid his career went a bit down in my opinion. He still has the talent as he proved it at Sampdoria. Unlucky to be out at the moment though.
Yes I remember when Roma won the title that season, the fans invaded the pitch if I'm correct. Capello was a genius at Roma. I remember those players mentioned, also remember Montella, Nakata had a short spell and a "famous" right back called Cafu . I also remember when Liverpool beat them in the UEFA Cup which was a shock given that Roma were the top team in Serie A. I did want Roma to win that game because I had a lot of friends in school who were going on how good Liverpool were lol.

Yeah! Cafu what a player he was. He always seemed to to the best things against Lazio which I found really enjoyable. He also did some amazing skill against Nedved if I'm not mistaken which I'll try and upload and show you :)
Nakata! 'IL Cinino'! He was such a beast at long shots! Every time he got the ball the whole stadium erupted as they knew something good was going to happen :D
Not to mention Emerson in midfield. One of the players that did really well too was Mancini who later on went to inter. He was such a great player and ever since he went to Inter he flopped very badly. He didn't even play a game and when he did, he was unable to do even 1 tenth of what he did for Roma. That was probably one of the biggest FAILS for his career I think.
Yeah, the fans all invaded the pitch, I was there :D:ha: I was only 7 at the time but I can still remember some of the noises etc :D
Serse Cosmi!! He's such a nice guy and if I'm honest, he's a legend in Italy :D He's always known for his hundreds of different caps and always managing lower league teams.

I cannot remember much of Nakata but he was popular player in his days in Italian football.
Yes I remember Emerson and Mancini. Totally agree with you both players were very good at Roma. Mancini's "x" amount of stepovers and scoring against Lyon  . His spell at Inter wasn't the best and agree that his career went down after leaving Roma.
Wow that must have been a great occasion for you even though you were young :D

This is Roma's latest game against Udinese, who are in 4th place, battling hard for that vital Champions League spot.
Roma came into this game from a 4-2 loss against Lecce, who were 2nd from bottom. Roma have had an extremely up and down season to say the least, but they once again showed they are not giving up the fight for that CL spot just yet.

Hey Ahmed! Yerah Roma have really had an up and down season. Just when you think that they are all set and good for that vital CL spot, they get thumped by bottom of the table! However, Roma this season were not actually expected to finish very high due to basically having a completely new rose of players. The players have needed time to bond, some more than others, and therefore making this season a little unpredictable. Next season, Roma are looking to get a few BIG names in the squad. We need two good RWB/LWB and a MIDFIELDER and a STRIKER and definitely another DEFENDER or two. The names being mentioned are BASTOS, DEDE, HIGUAIN, KUYT. We will see what happens, but Roma definitely need some big signings to make sure that next season we are big contenders for the CL spot and possibly the title!
Borini is definitely turning out into a great player for us. His clinical finishing has already made some clubs interested in him. Hopefully he carries on this form into the next games when he comes back from injury and onto next season! :D

Roma got some big games coming up so 3 points is a must if they want Champions League football. I agree with you that maybe most people thought Roma would compete for the Europa League spots but they've surprised us. Plus its Enrique's first test with a big team and he's done very well. I heard Suarez name mentioned a few weeks ago but not sure if its true. Would be a big shock if Higuain went to Roma or any other club, I think he's committed to Real at the moment. Its nice to see Simon Kjaer performing well as he had a shocker at Wolfsburg.
Hope Borini stays at Roma and shuns PSG. I can see him doing well at Roma rather than PSG

Today was the last straw for me and by the looks of it, most Roma fans. Roma lost 2-1 against Fiorentina at HOME and it was just disgraceful.
I could no longer see the famous 'project' which Luis Enrique is trying to install into the team. The first half was absolutely horrid and we were lucky that we didn't concede 3 - 4 goals if I'm honest. It was all thanks to our reserve goalkeeper who stepped up to the mark, Curci.
Roma were just lofting hopeless through balls upfront and literally hoping for the best. If it wasn't for our Captain, Francesco Totti, we would have been fighting to stay up, never mind anything else! The team seems to have lost all interest with the manager, and the fans are at braking point.
After the game, 300 odd fans decided to protest, quite rightly I might add, as they clearly had enough. We have been patient enough, with heavy losses before, but now this has gone too far. Losing 2-1 at home against a team who is fighting to stay up is beyond stupid. We had 4 attempts on goal the whole game and for me something has to be done.
Luis Enrique is constantly being backed, despite these horrible, humiliating defeats. Which I might add, have been heavy losses from 2 teams who have now been successfully relegated to Serie B.
In the press conference, Luis Enrique reacted very angrily to the accusations from the reporters, and said ' Don't worry, only 1 less day until I go'. I can't see how he can carry on with the job. He OBVIOUSLY doesn't have the backing of the team and now the supporters. The only way is for him to go.

Yes Defazzini VR I was shocked to see Roma lose today and you're right they should be winning the games against teams who are very low. 4 games to go but if the Roma players are not focused its hard to see them snatch that final Champions League spot. Just noticed that Inter overtook them as well today  and they have had a poor season. So you think that Enrique will be out the job in the summer, Capello in maybe? Also do you think the Enrique project failed or too early to say?
Defazzini VR
25 April 2012, 10:58 PM
ahmed_1 - Enrique has tried to install the 'Barca' style of football into Roma. The first half of the season, we saw snippets of what they could do, but it was still very confusing, as every game there were hardly no attempts on goals. Roma have never looked threatning when going forward, but have looked extremely fragile at the back.
Regardless of the 4-0 win over Inter, who at the time were going through an awful time of their own and the 3-1 win over Napoli, Roma have had an extremely unconsistent season.
Throughout these 7-8 months, the board have been asking for patience and more patience. The fans gave them that, and much more. Unfortunately there comes a point where every football fan has a limit. After 7-8 months of seeing NO improvement what so ever, it is only fair that the fans speak up and take a stand for their beloved football team. I would have done the same.
Unfortunately, in Serie A, everybody has figured Luis Enrique out completely. It is a very tactical League and now Roma are exploited to the fullest. This has become evident as the season has gone on. Everybody lets Roma pass it around, whilst actually not going anywhere and not causing any kind of threat what so ever! They do not have the quality of Barca, to play the 'Beautiful Game' and score many goals at the same time.
Luis Enrique has not adapted well. He is a very young manager with little experience of the big stage. Despite his evident success with the Barca B team, this project seems out of his depth.
Today I witnessed something that no fan wants to see. A team which has no self belief, has no awareness of the gravity of the situation and most importantly, seems COMPLETELY out of touch with the manager and the so called 'Enrique Project.'
Baldini and Sabatini have both confessed that it was their fault for overrating the players bought, and they should have offered better quality players to the disposal of L.Enrique.
I don't think that's the case. I think Luis has reached a point where the players are no longer on his side and it's going to be extremely difficult to get back on track now.
The best thing that he can do, is step down, no disrespect to him. But that way, it leaves hope for the remainig games and gives hope that we can AT LEAST snatch the Europa League spot, which the way we are going, seems unlikely!

25 April 2012, 11:06 PM
ahmed_1 - Capello has said that he would only return to Italy for somethign 'Stuzzicante'. There is no exact English translation for this, but in other words, he would only manage in Italy once again, if there was an interesting challenge. Which with the greatest of respect, I think Roma can offer that!
It would be SUPERB to see Fabio back at Roma. I don't know whether he would ever return though, after all, he has high expectations after having achieved so highly with Roma in the past.
Ancelotti has said once again, he WILL manage Roma in the future. I don't think it will be anytime soon, but that's something to look forward to as I do rate him as a manager.

Sad scenes for the Roma fans. I was really looking forward to see this "New Roma" in the Champions League but it seems a tough task. Yes they did get a few big results this season but I don't think these will save Enrique. He is a new manager to Serie A and Italian football and it seems that he has been given a lot of time at the club now and if results don't go their way then its unfortunately the sack. I agree with you that its a big step up from the Barca B team to managing a massive club in Serie A and Enrique doesn't have enough experience for a club like Roma.
I feel Roma did make some good signings (many young upcoming players and a mixture of old players to add the experience) so Enrique has got the players, not sure what Baldini is saying there.
Is it 4th and 5th in Europa League? Would it be good if Enrique left now or wait till the end of the season?
I think Capello would be more suited to the club football and would be interesting to see him back at Roma as I still rate him and Ancelotti as top managers in the game (despite their poor spells with England and Chelsea, all managers go through this). Plus Capello is someone who has respect of the fans and maybe the board due to his great work at the club before.

I think if there was someone to replace Luis Enrique, it would be Zeman from Serie B. He is a great man manager and has done great things with Pescara. He seems to be the hot name to replace Enrique.
Having said that, the previous manager, Vincenzo Montella, who is an absolute LEGEND, has done wonders with Catania! He has set records with that team that no thought could be possible! It's so funny how we let him go and yet we are the the team who find ourselves on the back of 2 heavy defeats, and a team who quite frankly, look like they could easily be relegated.
I think Enrique needs to go NOW. Although I don't think he will. I think he will stay for this season. However, if he was to lose another game, or two, I think there must be no choice but to sack him, if he doesn't decide to step down himself.
I agree with you, I think we have extremely interesting players. A mix of experience and young talent. I think if we had the right manager, Roma could do very well and be very competitive both in the league and in Europe competitions. I genuinely hope something is done about this.
What do you think? What would you do?

I have heard the name Zeman before and he was linked with a move to Inter. He seems to be an experienced coach and he may be a good choice. I thought Montella did well in his short spell at Roma, I think they should have given him a chance for year to see what he could do.
Its a tough question whether to sack the coach now. There are only 4 games left and if someone new is put in then you will need to start fresh and adjust to new tactics and playing style. Saying this though one of the backroom staff currently at Roma may take charge on a temp basis. It would be a very big call if Enrique gets sack now and will interesting to see what would happen with the team. Keeping the current boss is a risk due to the mixed season the club are having. However maybe the fan strike has put some sense into the players and fired them up for the next few games and make a last push for Europe.

I did read today that De Rossi was backing Enrique saying that he is a good young coach but unfortunately some things haven't gone his way. It was on the Goal website. I was told this source is not the very reliable however some stories they get are true. I suppose they've improved nowadays. Yes you're right we will have to wait and see.

This was after Roma's 2-2 draw against CL contenders Napoli. First half Roma started out great, dominated possesion and chances, and took 1-0 lead into half time.
Unfortunately, Roma seemed a different side in the second half, and conceded 2 outstanding goals from outside the box.
Roma did get an equaliser late on in the game, to save L.Enrique another loss.
After the game the fans protested, and Totti lead the group in front of the 'Curva Sud' to show their faces. They all began chanting Totti's name, but had other things to sa about the rest of the players.

Yeah it was a big match for Roma yesterday and win would have been massive to close the gap for the 3rd spot. I also heard that the board may keep Enrique for another season. 3 games to go and depending on results for the teams above a Europa League spot may have to suffice. Inter won today as well, can't believe how quick they caught up as they looked to be out of the running for even the Europa League. I did read about Simplicio's celebration where he ran to the fans to kiss his child and wife, still got booked though. Is the "Curva Sud" where the Ultras sit? I was looking up the meaning and the name translates to a curved area of the stadium where the fans sit, normally behind the goal.
I feel Serie A season this year has had some very good games (Inter 4:4 Palermo, Ranieri says after the match A great advert for football). I haven't managed to watch any games as most come on ESPN and I don't have that :-/

I was listening to The Guardian's Football Weekly podcast and they were saying that a deal has been agreed to bring in Andres Villas Boas as Roma manager to replace Luis Enrique. Any truth or just random names being linked with the job?

ahmed_1 Hi Ahmed, haven't been on in a while so sorry for the late reply.
I've just finished watching Roma - Catania. This game was a MUST win. We wasted our chances of CL football, and now our only hope was Europa League. Unfortunately, we drew 2-2.
Totti scored both, what a surprise! Without TOTTI, we would not be fighting for Europa League, but fighting to stay in Serie A! I'm not even kidding. We have lost 16 games this season, making it Roma's worst season EVER.
Roma at least showed the aggression and spirit to fight and win the game. Unfortunately it wasn't enough. Despite TOTTI being 37 years of age, he is the only one who pressures, runs constantly, and saves Roma from embarrassing results almost every time.
Everyone has to admit, this project was overrated. The players especially. There is no doubt that there is young talent in the squad, but our top goal scorer is Pablo Osvaldo with 11 goals, that says it all doesn't it?
About Villas Boas - There is some truth in there. He has had talks with Baldini and Sabatini about his possible move to Roma. However, it is not 100% confirmed.
I would like to see Enrique stay next season, with 4-5 players added to the squad of real QUALITY. As far as I'm concerned, this squad, Totti and maybe a few others being the excpetion, is mediocre.
Do I think Enrique will go? Hard to say, but I have a feeling that he will stay. Although the current relationship with the fans/city is very fragile. Very few managers would want to stay on. Let's wait and see what happens, but one thing is for sure, BIG signings HAVE to be made. Then and only then, can Luis Enrique be FULLY judged.

I seen the result in yesterday's game and looks like the chance to get a Europa League place is over. Roma have lost alot of games this season and its a shame to see teams starting playing well when its too late in the season. I know its good because it may work out but sometimes the European places are out of reach. 11 goals is not great given how much money was spent on Osvaldo plus the other strikers the club signed. Roma did sign many young players this year and some of them were a risk because players like Bojan was still developing at Barca and Lamela - its his first season in European football so players do take time to adjust from other continents. Osvaldo had a great scoring record with Espanyol last season and was linked with numerous clubs in Europe till he opted to join Roma. I thought his move to Roma would work out well but actually not amazing.
Thanks for letting me know what's going on with AVB and Roma, it would be interesting to see him at another club. Many people would give their verdict of him in his performance as Chelsea boss but I feel he moved to soon to them and he sticked with Porto for another season he could have done better. Would you take AVB as boss Defazzini VR ?
Yes you are right that Enrique is under pressure from the fans and most managers leave if times are difficult. If he does get another chance, he will need to strengthen heavily as the race for the Champions League in Italy is now very tough. If his 2nd stint doesn't go well he will be on his way out for sure.

Hey ahmed_1, yes, Luis explained that he was 'worn out' and that was his reason that he wanted to leave. He added that he did not think he would be able to 'recover' in time for next season. As it stands, it looks very likely that Vincenzo Montella will be replacing him. Ironic how when Vincenzo Montella left, he broke records with Catania and did an absolutely fantastic job. The other possible replacement is Villas Boas, who would also be a very interesting.
It was good that we finished the season on a win, Bojan, Lamela and De Rossi getting on the score sheet :)

Defazzini VR yes Montella seems destined for return to Roma, you're right it would have been interesting to see AVB given another chance though. Montella is a young manager and has done very well for Catania this season so it looks like he can make Roma improve on this season's performance. Plus the fans would be happy with him returning given his good playing days at Roma. Good result yesterday and nice to see Bojan on the score sheet, not sure if he will be there next season (that's what the story is, not sure if its true).
Bit off topic but related to Serie A, nice to see Del Piero and Inzaghi score in their final games at Juve and Milan

ahmed_1 Yeah, Vincenzo has admitted he would not be able to refuse an offer if it came from Roma as he is too attached to the fans, shirt and city. I can now confirm that Bojan will be staying at Roma for neext season. He has said he is happy and loves the city. I'm glad he's staying as I really think he's got a lot more to offer and it's taken him a while to fit in to the Italian style of football, but I'm sure he will improve to get better and better as time goes on! :D
Absolutely, I really enjoyed seeing Del Piero and Inzaghi score. They have been massive LEGENDS for their clubs and are both outstanding players! Juve were thoroughly deserved winners! I've got a feeling they will also win in the final of Coppa Italia against Napoli!

Defazzini VR plus he may bring a few players with him from Catania :ha: does happen. Good to see Bojan stay at Roma, will be interesting to see what happens next season. I'm sure Barca would have sold him if had returned to the Nou Camp.
Also noticed that Juve remained unbeaten what a record  , yeah both players are legends and have achieved a lot of success. Napoli have had a mixed run of results since that loss to Chelsea so I think Juve a strong favourites to win the Cup.

Any chances of hot prospect Marco Verratti joining him? He said that he would be happy to play with Borini so that's a major hint lol. Also read that Gago is going back to Real, any thoughts on this?

Hi Ahmed, nice to see you keeping a close eye on the Roma and the Serie A in general!
Yes, it has officially been confirmed today, but it was almost impossible for anyone to get the job when his name appeared a couple of weeks ago. I am really excited about Zdenek Zeman joining, as he previously managed Roma in 1997 - 1999. He knows the City well, and most of all the environment. He is known for his hard work ethic on the traning ground, which quite frankly, I don't think is a bad thing! :ha:
Baldini will have a tough job to do now, as he has a lot of players who he needs to consider whether to keep or sell, and most of all, see what Zeman wishes to do also. Rumors of Osvaldo going to Real Madrid, and Napoli having strong interests for him. I won't be too sad to see him go, as we payed 18million for him, and didn't really prove his full potential, despite being Roma's top goal scorer.
Verratti was an expectianal player under Zeman and for Pescara. He is wanted by many clubs, particularly in Serie A, by both Inter and Juventus. Up until a couple of days ago, there was a really strong chance that Marco would follow on with Zeman onto Roma as he was extremely fond of Zeman. Unfortunately, reports today have shown him stating in a press conference that he will ' stay at Pescara for at least one more season'. I'm very gutted as it would have been an amazing deal if he managed to come to Roma. He is very young and is a great prospect for the future.
Yes. unfortunately for Gago time literally ran out. I feel sad seeing him go, as I rate him as a player. He works very hard off the ball, and has a very good work rate. There just wan't an agreement for the loan, as I think Real Madrid were asking a little bit too much. I can't see him staying at Real Madrid though, I'm pretty sure he will be moving onto a different club in the near future.
A player which I am quit excited about, is Mattia Destro from Siena. He has had a wonderful season there, and he has admitted earlier of 'wanting to play under Zeman, and play together with Totti and Borini' So hopefully we can snap him up because I know a few teams are keen on snapping him up, so hopefully he will be persuaded to join us!
I'm very optimistic about the market this year, and I feel Roma really need to get 3-4 BIG players. I know the job will be more difficult seeing as we have no CL/Europa League, but invesment needs to be available in order to get a few solid names. Michel Bastos and Doumbia are fairly hot names at the moment, but it's just all talk as it stands at the moment. I am looking forward to the return of Juan and eventually Burdisso after his horrible injury. He's recovering extremely well though!
And finally Bojan. I personally hope we keep him, but the amount of clubs interested in him is crazy! Inter have shown a keen interest in him, and rumors say that Barca want him back! :ha: I can't see Jose' Angel staying on to be honest. He's not made for Serie A and has still a lot to learn. He's great for the Liga BBVA but not mature enough for Serie A defending.
It will be very interesting to see what happens to the team! But I genuinely hope Zeman will bring solidarity to the team, and work from the defence upwards. Let's see what happens!

Hello Defazzini VR
Serie A has been very popular with transfer news, the national team's performance and also the sad thing of match fixing :-/
It looks like Roma have got the right man for the job. Regarding his training ground tactics I think Liverpool had an issue with how Roy Hodgson trained his players and they disliked his ideas. I think with Zeman he seems to have that "legendary status" with the club.
I did hear about the Osvaldo rumours, but can't see Real Madrid getting another striker. Plus Gago's going back so looks like the deal is off. I agree with you his performance wasn't great last season given how much the club paid for him.
Yes I have heard about Veratti and Destro (the hot prospects of Italian football). It would be a major coup if Roma got both or one of these ahead of their rivals. I may have read a different article reading (lol :ha:) what you posted about Destro wanting to play for Roma as they have Borini and Totti.
Gago was a good player for Real Madrid but then got injured and rarely got starts. I doubt he will stay at Madrid as he's got a poor relationship with Jose and Madrid got too many players in the CM role.
No European football is a massive minus for the club in terms of signing players. I did hear about Doumbia (he's a good player but don't go with Fifa12 as many players are too overrated lol). Plus with the Euros on this Summer, I'm sure there will be many players in the shop window :D.
I agree with you that if Bojan stays with Roma it will be a big season for him. I read that Barca don't want him back a few weeks ago. Jose Angel was a interesting player in Spain but looks like he hasn't adapted to Italian football (it has happened for some players that have come from La Liga).
Serie A looks to be very interesting next season, Juve winning the title (unbeaten ) and I'm sure the rivals would like to challenge.
