Couldn't see a thread for this, other than the online one. Feel free to nudge me though if there is one.

Anyone played Expedition mode? I like it, the idea is good and everything, but I cannot seem to get a striker offered to me at all. I've unlocked so many teams now it's getting a bit ridiculous. Anyone else have this problem?

We all know the sort. They're always fast and they're always cheap. But not considering the obvious ones (Agbonlahor, Bent, Welliton, Nilmar, Cisse) who are the ones that really bother you?

Just an idea.

5 players in one team vs 5 players in another team.

There are 5 fixtures (2 legs), each match is a point won for the team, a draw is 0.5 points. 10 points up for grabs in total

example: 10 players - A,B,C,D,E,V,W,X,Y,Z

TEAM 1 = A,B,C,D,E
TEAM 2 = V,W,X,Y,Z

A vs Z
B vs Y
C vs X
D vs W
E vs V

if there more than 10 players interested will make it 6v6 and so on.

Teams will selected randomly.

Defending (and contain defending)

Anyone think the defending in FIFA 12 has taken a turn for the worse in comparison to previous games?

I ask that, not for the same reason many were saying it back in September, but because I feel the skill has actually been taken away from it. It may sound funny to say that, and it would, to anyone who still defends in the same way they always have (like I do) however, defending in FIFA now has massive assistance from the AI if you choose to allow it.

I'm talking about the contain defending from other 'team mates'. ie. Calling on the CPU to help. It's basically what the pressure button is for in Be a Pro mode when you're playing in a team where the rest of the players are controlled by the CPU. It means two or more players constantly swarm around you. Now for me this is taking the skill of defending away from the player, because they aren't truly positioning that other player or even controlling what they do. Before, player select/switching was key because it meant you'd have to quickly switch back and forth between players to make sure they were in the correct positions. That for me is a skill in defending.

One huge reason why this bugs me, aside from the CPU assisting players in Pro Clubs the way it does, is that the players who you can play in a 1v1 can be difficult to score against and yet overall fairly poor players. I judge players on how they are when they are in possession and in a fair amount of games I will play people who really struggle when they have the ball, but due to the way defending has changed with such AI assistance they can be difficult to score against. I personally think this is wrong because if they were 100% controlling their players for defending, as they do when attacking (in possession) I think it would be a much fairer and honest outcome.

There is no doubting for me that EA have tried their best to make FIFA 12 easier to play for the 'not so brilliant' shall we say, gamer. This is great for EA as it means more sales and it's great for those players I am sure to win games they most likely wouldn't have on previous FIFA titles, but I just feel it's cheating the better players and taking the skill element away from the gameplay.

I don't think it's a massive issue, unlike in Pro Clubs where it certainly is, but this is just something I've noticed now and then in 1v1 matches online. There is definitely less human control and decisions in the game online this year, which for me is ruining it a tad. What do you think?

I felt I had to post my thoughts on this after finishing this game earlier which I only won 1-0 in the 90th minute for the exact reasons explained above...

I'm not very good on UT this year because I'm too used to playing clubs. I found UT12 fun in the first few months when I played it quite a lot but gone off it ever since then.

So just wandering what your best goal-to-game ratio's are?

At the moment mine are for Neymar who I've only just brought and Sturridge since I've looked, just recently sold Lukaku, he's might have been better. In my defence for my rubbish records, I'm usually trying to take the p*ss out of the opponent instead of scoring with easy opportunities.

I posted this on another thread but wanted some feedback.

ALL of these TOTW and TOTY are really ridiculous. Here I am trying to figure out how to get enough coin to afford TIF Kagawa and now this (Northern Europe TOTY).

I almost have enough now to get his TIF.

And honestly, how much better is one in form then the next ? I can afford the SIF now.... is it really worth it to get his third? or is it really just like changing your underwear?

I'm planning on starting a career-mode with Manchester City, I've set the board difficulty as amateur and my budget is 84,000,000. I'm planning on buying Thiago Silva to play alongside Kompany and also Javi Martinez(Big admirer of this talented player).
Who do you recommend I buy?
I want a good young attacking midfielder who will develop and a good left-back(the hardest position to find a good young player in my opinion, options are very limited.)

More Captured Faces Than Ever

Tech developed by Glasgow-based digital capture firm Dimensional Imaging will be used by EA Sports to pack FIFA 13 with more realistic faces than ever before, according to Mike Harrison, director of EA Capture at Electronic Arts:

“We recognised a few years ago that raising the quality of facial appearance was an increasing priority for our game teams. Working closely with Dimensional Imaging has allowed us to develop a highly accurate 3D facial capture pipeline that is now so efficient that we can apply it to more characters than we ever thought possible.”

Dimensional Imaging CEO Colin Urquhart added his own take on the continued success of the working relationship:

“The relentless increase in the quality of computer graphics makes it ever more necessary to capture real life human likenesses in order to create believable virtual characters, but this process has traditionally been very time consuming for video game development.”

The Five Major Improvements

FIFA 13′s producer David Rutter unveiled details to everyone present at the recent London showcase that FIFA 13 which showed that the next addition to EA Sports’ behemoth football franchise will enjoy 5 major improvements alongside a few other additions that he personally would like to see implemented in FIFA 13. Rutter said that he would like to see new types of passes, new animations for goalkeepers, improved referee behaviours and new atmospherics like crowd animations, all of which would go down well.

Those 5 major improvements are as follows:

First Touch Control

The new control system will affect the way players can retrieve passes from teammates, with success being determined by certain factors like pass power, speed, height and the receiving player’s technical ability. Sounds like

Player Impact Engine

Set for further improvement in FIFA 13, the Player Impact Engine will continue to wipe out all of the unrealistic animations that used to result from collisions between players with new body areas set to be affected by the game’s physics engine including the players hips and chests.

Complete Dribble

A whole new dribble system will come in, which will require a lot more of the player than simple directional changes.

Tactical Free-Kicks

In FIFA 13, free kick taking will change: now you will be able to bring up to three players up to gather around the ball in order to disorientate the goalkeeper and hopefully misdirect the taker’s intentions. Dummy kicks will also come in, as the player will be able to feign a direct shot on goal before choosing a pass at the last moment to a teammate who will be able to detach from wall.

Attacking AI

Clever opponents makes for a harder game experience, but a more rewarding one in the long-run, and FIFA 13′s new AI will have opponents tracking the most efficient routes to the ball as well as anticipating a broader range of passes from team-mates, and doing their utmost to avoid being flagged offside. For veterans, that will spell a richer experience, and newer gamers will enjoy a steeper learning curve no doubt. All in the name of good sports simulation.

Search filters will now be implemented into the extremely popular Pro Clubs mode. You will be able to filter your search by ANY or not. Virtual Pro GK filter is also a likely to accompany this. No more playing against the CPU and/or VP GKs?
