He just brings a "know-how" mentality to the team. You can tell that he never really feels pressured to make a play, and he is always looking for an open man. This is why teams are smart to keep people like Scholes and Giggs.
He is just one of those players that rarely ever gives it away and keeps possession so well for his team with not just his passing, but his movement as well in order to receive passes easily.
Man City would probably be just about to win the title now had Ferguson not brought Scholes back in.
Scholes is simply utter class on the pitch

Paul Scholes is by far the greatest passer of the ball in modern football. Bar none
Before people jump on the bandwagon of Xavi and Iniesta those two simply don't have the range of passes that Scholes has. At Barca nobody has to pass it more than 10-15 yards whereas Scholes can pass it over 50yards with ease. The closest player to him in terms of passing ability I think is Gerrard and that pains me to say
